No Bush Left Behind

You probably first heard about Neil's company when every penny of Barbara Bush's Katrina donation made its way to Neil Bush's company. But this is a new enterprise for Neil, using the NCLB program to charge schools $3,800 for purple projectors:
Neil Bush, is raking in millions off of ‘No Child Left Behind’ selling thousands of educational "Curriculums on Wheels", or (Cash) COWs, to schools around the country. After five years of development and backing by investors like Saudi Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal and onetime junk-bond king Michael R. Milken, Neil Bush aims to roll his high-tech teacher's helpers into classrooms nationwide.

Whatadeal, $3,800 for a projector!

Minnesota has historically prided itself on a large voter turnout. Typically we have been among the top few states in the nation with a large voter turnout. In addition, voter fraud has been extremely rare (26 cases out of hundred of thousands of voters last election!). Naturally, the MN GOP feels a need to address this pressing and overwhelming 'non-existing state problem' of lots of voters and a statistically non-existing voter fraud of less than 100th of a percent! Route 66: Illinois and Twinkies

Currently I'm traveling down Route 66 with the odd side trip here and there...I'm blogging about my Mother Road adventure at The Grateful Muses blog but side trips and odd things that don't quite fit the travel log will get posted up here...like this one about Twinkies... Old Twinkies advertisement tin As Route 66 is America's Main Street, so are Twinkies America's snack cake. And guess what? Twinkies were invented in Illinois... Schiller Park in the 1930's. The inventor James Dewar realized that several machines used to make cream filled strawberry shortcake sat idle when the berries weren't in season. That's when he conceived a snack cake filled with a banana cream filling. He came up with the name Twinkies when he saw a billboard in St. Louis for 'Twinkle Toe Shoes....giving birth to 'Twinkies'. Due to the rationing of bananas during WWII, the company was forced to change the filling to vanilla cream...making them even more pop...
