Olbermann Takes On Donald 'Quack' Rumsfeld

Image
Keith Olbermann replies to Donald 'Quack' Rumsfeld and the rest of the neo-cons wanting to now label dissent with the new and highly coordinated buzz phase “supporting fascism”… transcript : " The man who sees absolutes, where all other men see nuances and shades of meaning, is either a prophet, or a quack." Yes there is fascism. But the Bu$h’s administration has removed most of my freedoms and liberties not the majority of the population that says it's time to leave Iraq. And if you say ‘it can’t happen here’, wrong., it already has happened here. Remember : President Bush has quietly claimed the authority to disobey more than 750 laws enacted since he took office, asserting that he has the power to set aside any statute passed by Congress when it conflicts with his interpretation of the Constitution. What does that make them? A must see: Video - WMV Video - QT

Ostrow leaks attacks to Media

Dan Weinand has the scoop . In my opinion, this is no coincidence. Some metro papers may be making their CD5 endorsements this week, so Ostrow is doing the dirty work and trying to throw mud around, but for whom is a good question, he sure is not up for any endorsements. UPDATE: More from MNCR UPDATE II: MN Publius

Ember - The Right Wing Christian Extremist?

Image
I received a letter today from Art Higinbotham, an Ember Reichgott Junge supporter, in which there are several fairly nasty comments about everyone in the race, except Ember of course. Here are some highlights (emphasis mine): Her endorsed DFL opponent, Keith Ellison, has had limited political experience in the Minnesota House… While he shares Senator Reichgott’s positions on key issues of importance to DFLers, we have not heard him renounce the aspects of Islam that are anathema to our American belief system, such as death for apostasy and the subordination of women. Wow, and when did all practitioners of Islam become extremists? Oh yeah Okay, should we try to point out the same kinda whacked out crazy beliefs Christianity has within it and hold all practitioners of that religion accountable to everything too? Do we really want to go there? Let's… If I were to write a letter like this attacking Ember for being Christian, what would I write? hmmmm... While she shares Representativ...

Signs and Omens At The Webster Parade

Image
I'm on my second Coleen Rowley sign. The first was stolen. All the Democratic signs on a busy corner a block away disappeared the same night. It's more than a little suspicious because the wind is definately non-partisan. So was it local rethugs? probably..still it's only a sign, which brings me to the Webster parade last weekend. Webster is a small community surround by farm land but turning into suburbs. It has Ettlin's Ranchero Supper Club, a couple of Lutheran Churches, a co-op and post office. In other words, Webster is the kind of place that still hold to the old values of a person's word is their bond. A nice community where you would feel comfortable raising your kids. I came through town before parking and joining Coleen Rowley in the Webster Parade. A good 80% of the houses on the main street had Coleen Rowley yard signs in their front lawns. There were no John Kline signs..zip, zero, da nada. Not one sign in any yard. I believe in signs as omens, the chan...

GOP Stick A Fork In Kennedy

Image
"It over for Mark Kennedy" - Congressman John Kline's top staffer from his Burnsville office said when asked about the Mark Kennedy/Amy Klobachur campaigns at the MN State Fair on Friday. In an attempt to put more lipstick on this pig, Kennedy released his 4th ad in as many weeks. MN Publius does him a favor by making it so that it complies with the affidavit he signed when he renewed his CPA license Can Kline be far behind given his lackluster debate presences during the Jason Lewis Show and the series of muddy/fuddy attacks against his challenger Coleen Rowley ?

Lewis And Rowley Debate, While Kline Tries To Figure Out What To Do With All His Free Time After November.

Image
Republican John Kline (MN-02) debated Coleen Rowley on the wacky conservative and very partisan Jason Lewis show at the MN State Fair on Friday. If I hadn't known better, I would have thought it wasn't a debate so much as a bashing that failed. Every question except one was geared to frame and trap Coleen Rowley. Most of the questions posed by Lewis were longer than the answers making him sound a lot less like the moderator of a debate and a lot more like the big fat drug taker Russ Limbaugh. The one question given only to Kline had to be rephrased because Kline failed to follow along with what was asked: Lewis asked if the Big Energy Companies make record profits should stop getting subsidies and credits. In his words “ Shouldn’t we rein-in these price gougers ?" Kline started rambling about GOP anti-gouging legislation when Jason Lewis interrupted Kline saying, " I kind of tricked you." and went on to reveal that the energy company is Archer-Daniels-Midland, a...

Howard Dean Still Speaks To Me

Image
We all have a decision to make this election. 'Stay the course' or 'Vote for change'. Most are looking for a different direction, a new direction, a change - vote for change, vote Coleen Rowley (MN -02). DNC Chairman Howard Dean summed it up on Hardball today when Matthews tried picking a fight about Lieberman. "You're brother is working for Lamont," Matthews accused. " "And so am I," shot back Howard Dean. "Ned Lamont is the future. Joe is a good guy, but Joe is the past. And I think we need a new direction in this country. And it's not just the Lieberman-Lamont race. It's all over the country. People are looking for a different direction, a new direction, a change -- and I think the Democrats can bring that change.." We have to change our current course of failure in America and Democrats have a plan . The first change will be the truth...Democrats will speak the truth. Think of it- no more lies, smears, kneejerk react...

When Snakes Rule, Bush on a Plane

Image
Go see the movie 'snakes on a plane'. (no, no Bu$h and the NeoCons aren't in it…exactly). But it is a damm fine B-grade movie. My only word of warning is the flying snake in the movie theater is most probably a rubber snake, or at least it was during the showing I attended in Eagan. To my good, when it landed on me I shrieked like a deranged banchee and hurled the snake with my popcorn somewhere several feet to my left where a middle aged ex jock way over reacted and ran screaming down the isle swearing while trying to kill the poor fake snake. Thank g*d I took my high blood pressure meds earlier. And before you tell me snakes can't get on a plane…well - everything can happen. Since we’re talking about slithering snakes on a plane…Bu$h is coming to town today to stump for his minions (Bachman and Kline?). That’s good. Bu$h probably has lower approval ratings than snakes, and by default so will the folks he’s trying to booster. More snakes on a plane: looks like Bu$h wi...
Bring Em On Kline votes with Bush over 94% of the time. Isn't it time to call his leadership into question? While we want to provide for our family and community, Bush with Kline's support has been giving away America's resources and our children's future to big oil companies, weapon's manufacturers and other special interests. Isn't it time for us to outsource Kline.

Remember Ember, Remember Joe Lieberman

WIth all the talk today ( here , here , here , here , and here ) about Ember's campaign in the 5th, I thought I'd post a letter I recieved from one of my friends. _____ I’m grateful to Phil Steger for reminding us of Ember Reichgott-Junge’s strong and very recent connection to Joe Lieberman:  In 2004 she was the Lieberman campaign’s state chair when he ran for president.  (Remember Ember, Remember “Joementum!”)  I’ve seen that connection up close and way too personal.   I was at January 2004 DFL State Central Committee meeting that Steger references in his commentary – not as a delegate, but as one of the legions of Howard Dean supporters in Minnesota spurred by the guy from Vermont, who was speaking the truth about the war when it was not fashionable to do so, to get involved in Minnesota politics for the first time.   It was just one weekend after scores of us volunteers had returned from busting our asses for Dean in freaking COLD Iowa right before his devas...

You Go Girl, Coleen Rowley Fires Back!

Wow! Zikes! Did someone say they were looking for Democrats that have a backbone? Look no further than Minnesota's CD2 Democratic Congessional Candidate Coleen Rowley ! Vote Coleen has the whole statement from Coleen to incumbent John NeoKline's smear #2.

Neo-Kline's Disingenuous Mudfest of Fear

Image
mnpACT! says John Kline (MN-R) is acting like he’s behind in CD2 campaign. Personally I think he's just acting like a horse's behind... Let's see...2 attacks in 2 weeks...11 weeks to go... Any volunteer on this campaign better be hiding the skeletons least 'the bully' Kline go after you! Apparently John Kline has nothing substantive with which to smear his actual opponent so he attacks an unpaid staff member and tried to make the voters in CD2 FEAR things that go bump in the night. It's all very Rovian and just what we've come to expect from NeoKline. Why is Kline krapping mud ? MN Campaign Report has a nice summation, as does Power Liberal and David Bailey's diary at Daily Kos. Additionally DJK shows a link off the GOP page to a CATO that advocates legalize drugs. Does that mean the GOP support legalize drugs? By John Kline's own krap, he too must support legalize drugs. Geez, maybe he is losing...certainly he's acting like a loser.

That Neil Young Guy

Neil Young has made a new video for 'After The Garden' from his album Living With War. The video is a powerful indictment of Bush's eco-policy and makes a bold statement. More videos coming soon! Kline Waffles On Truth

John Kline (R-MN) has spoken out about the emerging details on the military investigation into the deaths of two dozen Iraqis last November in Haditha. The killings have raised fears that the incident could be the gravest case involving misconduct by American ground forces in Iraq. Kline has been specifically briefed regarding the details of the incident and also the apparent coverup. More on the story is here . Initially Kline made comments calling it an 'aberration' but today the MN Star Tribune had a story with Kline apologizing to Marines over Haditha statements. So we basically have Congressman Kline apologying for the massive, intentional, unprovoked, methodical killing of 24 civilians (including women and children) and it's coverup. Am I the only one thinking Kline is apologying to the wrong group of people? Kline is not willing to stand on the truth...he prefer to 'waffle' while remaining silent to protect his brother in arms regardless of their criminal b...

Where's The Beef

Image
The DFLers had a 'weenie' of a story on the GOP so I thought I'd pile on some more relish...an observation in St. Paul posted on a democratic list... "...Mark Kennedy swung around the corner, sitting in the back seat of the Oscar Meyer Wiener Mobile. I heard him humming that catchy little tune, "I wish I was an Oscar Meyer wiener, that's what I'd really like to be-e-e." Sitting behind the driver's wheel was none other than Michael Brodkorb. He was smartly decked out in one of John Kline's bellhop uniforms. The whole thing was really quite impressive; I wish you all could have seen it. I suppose they were headed to a campaign event, or a barbecue." Mr. Rubberstamping, Badmouthing, Pawlentyawful, and Ms. Gayhater along with leader Mr. B Clown were auditioning for their future jobs.

Hatch Moves for Universal Health Care

Mike Hatch supports Universal Health Care, and now has a plan to implement it. Full article in the Strib . The salary of Minnetonka-based UnitedHealth Group's chief executive would be enough to fund a major chunk of universal health coverage for three years, Hatch said. "In a health care system where children aren't covered, where's our conscience?" he asked. Americans pay roughly double that of any other nation for health insurance, but the country is ranked low in longevity and in quality of care, he said. Hatch offered ideas for reform including allowing employers to buy coverage from assigned-risk plans, purchasing pools for prescriptions, school clinics, mental-health assessment centers and greater accountability for the boards that oversee insurers. Now this is what I am talking about! Of coarse Tim "weenie" Pawlenty has his predictable whine about taxes, but come on, with cost rising as fast as they are for every person who actually has coverage ...

What Ned's Victory Was All About

Coleen Rowley was comparing what happen to Lieberman to how St. Paul voters booted from office last year Bush lackey/fake-Democrat , former St, Paul mayor Randy Kelly. Minnesota voters were outraged over Kelly's support and endorsement of Bush's catastrophic and destructive policies especially in Iraq. "This isn't just about winning or losing. Iraq and everything around it goes to the heart of what's happening in our country today. Ned's beautiful victory last night showed that people are paying attention." Coleen couldn't be more right. That same outrage is now looking for big changes this election cycle starting with voting out those who have voted lockstep with the failed Bu$hCo policies. ( Rubber Stamp Kennedy , Locktepper Kline )

Kline DeKlines 'The High Road'

In an effort to fool all of the people all of the time...Kline stumbles and falls. The Wege is just singing to the Democratic choir when addressing the latest antics from MDE with Kline trying to smear the Rowley Campaign with half baked lies… “..slippery innuendos coming from someone I know to be a barefaced liar and who gets paid to front the dirt Republican campaigns are usually too ashamed to put out under their own name.” In the past Kline has depended on his mudslinging to dirty up the issues so voters don't pay attention to them ...but not this time . Kline has played this game too often and with the same cast of players…Diane Bratlie (listed as a volunteer with Kline for congress) has been involved with the Kline campaign since 1998 and has received numerous reimbursements for campaign related expenditures. She also was the conduit for an MDE post in 2004 against Teresa Daly. Pretty lame to be using a letter regarding a long past incident and with a campaign 'player...

Now That is a Campaign for Change!!

Lieberman Lost! And now officially leaves the Democratic Party. Not that is was not unoffiial for a while now. Minvolved has the best run-down.

Ditto For Rebecca Otto

Image
MN Publius tells us why they are big fans of Rebecca Otto.. Truthsurfer would like to ditto that... Besides, Rebecca's mom is a Peace Alliance member and big time supporter of the DOP legislation . The acorn doesn't grow far from the tree!

Is John Kline 'DeKlining' To Debate?

Image
Congressman John Kline (R-MN) has been asked by the Coleen Rowley campaign to debate... "Last week we learned someone had been anonymously attacking Coleen on the internet from Kline's Burnsville campaign office under the name KlineFan. We believe if Kline has something to say to Coleen, he should come right out and say it, not hide behind the cloak of internet anonymity . So Coleen formally challenged Kline to a series of debates. Kline is still screeching about being smeared by Coleen for a staffer comparing him to a bumbling sitcom character who hands out recipes to voters while gas prices go higher, taxes and fees continue to rise and the wars wage on with Americans and civilians still dying...er...or something like that... Hey Kline...what's not to talk about?

"Exterminate, Exterminate"

Image
Peter Hawkins died recently in Britain. His name isn't exactly a household one, but he is well-known for one word, delivered in a grating monotone screech:"EXTERMINATE!"Yes, Hawkins was the voice of the Daleks from the old BBC series "Doctor Who." Cheap cheesy special effects and all, I love the show…but talking about exterminations… “We are now in a process of renewed escalation,” a senior Israeli General Staff officer tells Haaretz. Signaling an apparent policy shift, “We will continue hitting everything that moves in Hizbollah — but we will also hit strategic civilian infrastructure .” Nice, seems as though the Bu$hCo school of NeoCon's has spilled over into all of the Middle East. And Rice-a-roni with France has decided the fate of all involved. Besides being damm near mind numbing like the dalek's stun ray it's stinks of a B-grade sci-fi... And talking about more sci-fi ...and naturally more killings: Maybe when we’re all done giving Iraq some o...

What? A real guy running for Governor?

Who knew? Mike Hatch is a real guy. He is running his campaign for Governor by burning his own shoe leather. The article in the Strib has it all, but I just had to comment on how refreshing this is. Hatch almost always drives in his own car to campaign events instead of being chauffeured. He writes his own speeches. He personally returns reporters' calls to the campaign number. At some fundraisers, he serves cold garlic toast. Better yet, he is saving his money and holding back until the race heats up. There does seem to be concern out there from some folks about him not having but two staffers, and I have to agree with that. He may not need the army some campaigns are spending on, but I could see him getting some more staffers as a positive move at this point. But the idea that a candidate can rely on his own feet and his own words to run a campaign is much more an authentic choice than the race by focus group that seems to happen all too often. Hatch said he also wants hi...

No Lipstick On This Pig

Image
Dean doesn't pretty it up or make it fluffy... Here's the question that the right-wing extremists who control the Republican Congress will put before the Senate:" Over seven million Americans can have a raise of $2.15 an hour by raising the minimum wage, but only if we give a tax cut to 7,500 ultra-rich people at a cost of $753 billion dollars." It's despicable, it's wrong, and we need to stop it. Let your Senators know that they should reject it: http://www.democratsorg/realminimumwage

GOP Leaders Dish Dirt

When you distort and dish dirt all the time, you're following the national enquirer school of reporting. Mike at Stronger DFL makes a compelling read about why MDE should blog facts instead of his flaming innuendos or at least hang up his GOP hats.
