I grew up reading comic books wanting to be a superhero. Comics taught me that those who speak the truth are heroes, all the rest are liars.

Tax Breaks Won't Stop The Boat From Sinking!

What good is government when it can't provide for those in need without paying a tariff to the wealthy? Wasn't that one of the reasons our country was founded?...to avoid this kind of crap!

"So this notion that somehow we are willing to compromise too much reminds me of the debate that we had during health care. This is the public option debate all over again… People will have the satisfaction of having a purist position and no victories for the American people. "

President Obama,

This isn't about compromise or purist positions or even victories. Maintaining the status quo of the last 8 years is not providing for the under employed, and it sure as hell isn't resolving any of our problems...Where's the job creation, the training or the economic stimulus? All I see is more of the same...and the massive 'piling on' of debt to enrich the few.

Two years from now, under your 'compromise', the rich will have more, while the majority of Americans slip further into the sea of poverty...This is not a win, or a compromise, or acceptable. This is what spurs revolutions. Promises and deal making of 'more of the same' is not a solution, acceptable, moral, ethical or the least bit understandable by the majority of Americans left with the fall out of debt.

Continuing to allow the wealthiest 3% of Americans to benefit, while offering an additional 900 billion to the deficit for the majority of us... is like drowning at sea... next to the luxury liner...who's rich owners are waving and taking our pictures. The boat America is sinking. Stop toasting champagne with the rich folks long enough to actually throw the rest of us a life line...or we will all be swimming in the deep end 2 years from now.
Sincerely pissed off- The TruthSurfer

People movin' out
People movin' in
Why, because of the color of their skin
Run, run, run, but you sho' can't hide
An eye for an eye
A tooth for a tooth
Vote for me, and I'll set you free
Rap on brother, rap on
Well, the only person talkin'
'Bout love thy brother is the preacher
And it seems,
Nobody is interested in learnin'
But the teacher
Segregation, determination, demonstration,
Integration, aggravation,
Humiliation, obligation to our nation
Ball of Confusion
That's what the world is today

The sale of pills are at an all time high
Young folks walk around with
Their heads in the sky
Cities aflame in the summer time
And, the beat goes on

Air pollution, revolution, gun control,
Sound of soul
Shootin' rockets to the moon
Kids growin' up too soon
Politicians say more taxes will
Solve everything
And the band played on
So round 'n' round 'n' round we go
Where the world's headed, nobody knows
Just a Ball of Confusion
Oh yea, that's what the wold is today

Fear in the air, tension everywhere
Unemployment rising fast,
The Beatles' new record's a gas
And the only safe place to live is
On an indian reservation
And the band played on
Eve of destruction, tax deduction
City inspectors, bill collectors
Mod clothes in demand,
Population out of hand
Suicide, too many bills, hippies movin'
To the hills
People all over the world, are shoutin'
End the war
And the band played on.

QUERY : When you lose majority in the House to Republicans by losing 63 seats, and then see the margin diminished in the Senate after Republicans picked up six seats, why do you set yourself up for the re-authorized tax cuts to expire at the close of the next election cycle ? Wouldn’t a one year extension be better ?

I am a fiscal conservative (that does not mean I oppose taxes … I believe in fair taxes … and paying bills on time) and am unaffiliated with any political party … an independent voter. I was a big Obama supporter for two reasons : #1. he offered a sound foreign policy that included engagement rather than confrontation; and #2. he advocated fair taxes. Obama wants a START treaty (engaging with Russia to reduce and control nuclear weapons) but the Republicans want confrontation. Seems like he is losing that battle. On fair taxes, I wanted passive income (the bulk of hedge fund managers income is passive) to be taxed the same as working wages (35% versus 15%). I wanted subsidies for ethanol to end. I wanted a meager 3.6% increase for high income earners. I wanted to preserve funding for Social Security. Obama has agreed to the Republican wishes not mine. Why should I vote for Obama in 2014 ?

The TEA Party may have some wackos, and been manipulated, but one of the overriding concerns is real … the rising national debt. The TaxEnoughAlready movement was mobilized by TARP … people did not like seeing a handful of politicians making backroom deals. It cost Norm Coleman his election and made Michelle Bachmann a star.
Now, another backroom deal … a bill that never went through committees (something that Mr. Kline would normally be shouting about) … a bill that no one knows what is in it (nobody mentions that the ethanol subsidy will continue … funny that Mr. Kline made a big deal out of the Freedom Car funding which he felt was unnecessary since private industry was doing it, but now ethanol will be funded by the national debt) … a bill that will require a lot of arm twisting and more than likely an odd bi-partisan passage (this will only pass with a majority of Republicans including Mr. Kline) … and in the end, a lot of anger next year when people learn that the Social Security Trust Fund will run out sooner since the contribution levels have been reduced. The bill extends business tax breaks that they not are currently using (businesses will invest when they have customers and demands … not to get a tax break … ask a farmer when he will buy a new tractor and he will tell you when I have a good year not when the tax law tells him.)

Ignore the fact that President Obama says we must do this (why December and not in 2011 … so what if the first paycheck in January has higher withholding … that will get people paying attention … force the Republicans to compromise as they would be viewed as the hostage-takers.)
Ignore the fear-mongers that are proclaiming a double dip recession … heck, Manpower just released a survey that business plans on hiring next year … and that was when they did not know about this tax deal.
But don’t ignore calling Senators Franken and Klobuchar and telling them to oppose this legislation. Klobuchar lofty poll numbers will plummet once the Republican challenger starts attacking her for embracing Obama’s tax plan. How can she run on promising to raise taxes on the wealthy when she will have voted for retaining their tax cuts ?
