Where Freedom Dies

Today, Trump told Zelenskyy, 'Make a deal or we’re out'. But for Zelenskyy and the Ukraine, this is more than a ‘deal’ or rights to resources, this is about being sovereign nation, freedom, identity, and liberty.

However, a man that falsely blamed Ukraine for starting the war, then call Zelenskyy a ‘dictator’ for not holding an election at the end of his term last year even though Ukrainian law allows for it during war times, how could such a man even begin to understand what is at stake here when he can’t understand the truth.

Peace is needed, but the bully aggressor should not be the one dictating the terms.  The aggressor should not be rewarded for stopping the conflict they started. Nor should they be trusted given a lifetime of broken promises and murder.

There can be no peace without uniting behind the Ukraine and guaranteeing security. Today I was horrified, embarrassed and sad that the greatest nation of the world became a shyster broker of broken dreams instead of the beacon of light for freedom. Shame on you Trump, and shame on anyone that justifies his behavior.

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." – Benjamin Franklin
