I Think Wright Is Right

I like Pastor Wright...I like the passion, the spirit, the fiery inspiration, and lastly, I just plain like the man...that doesn't mean I agree with everything he says... Erica Jong has it right when she says: Just because a man is inspired by his pastor doesn't mean he agrees with every word his pastor says. Duh. Even a moron knows that. But inspiration remains important. And you will never be inspired by running stuff out of context and playing gotcha. Our press has become a sea of triviality, meanness and irrelevant chatter. Is anyone listening? Certainly not the mainstream press who have distorted and played his life's calling into a sound bite to used against Obama. Let's hope Mr. Wright takes on the press in his next sermon...they are long overdue to be called on the carpet for their outrageous characterization.

10 things you should know about John McCain (but probably don't):

Image
1. John McCain voted against establishing a national holiday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Now he says his position has "evolved," yet he's continued to oppose key civil rights laws.1 2. According to Bloomberg News, McCain is more hawkish than Bush on Iraq, Russia and China. Conservative columnist Pat Buchanan says McCain "will make Cheney look like Gandhi."2 3. His reputation is built on his opposition to torture, but McCain voted against a bill to ban waterboarding, and then applauded President Bush for vetoing that ban.3 4. McCain opposes a woman's right to choose. He said, "I do not support Roe versus Wade. It should be overturned."4 5. The Children's Defense Fund rated McCain as the worst senator in Congress for children. He voted against the children's health care bill last year, then defended Bush's veto of the bill.5 6. He's one of the richest people in a Senate filled with millionaires. The Associated Press report...

Three Redemption Songs

Old pirates, yes, they rob I, Sold I to the merchant ships. Minutes after they took I, From the bottomless pit. But my hand was made strong, By the hand of the All Mighty. We forward in this generation, Triumphantly. Won't you help to sing These songs of freedom ? 'Cause all I ever had, Redemption songs, Redemption songs. Bob Marley - Redemption Song Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery, None but ourselves can free our minds. Have no fear for atomic energy, 'Cause none of them can stop the time. How long shall they kill our prophets, While we stand aside and look? Some say it's just a part of it, We've got to fullfil de book. So won't you help to sing These songs of freedom? 'Cause all I ever had, Redemption songs, Redemption songs, Redemption songs.- JOHNNY CASH & JOE STRUMMER - REDEMPTION SONG Old pirates, yes, they rob I, Sold I to the merchant ships. A No More Convenient Season Than This

Image
In memory of Martin Luther King, Jr...after 40 years and it still we're told to wait and stop setting timetable for freedom...I refuse to wait for the 'more convenient season' that our 'paternalistic daddies' tells us is coming but 'just not right now'...I don't have enough years left to keep 'waiting it out' on the sidelines. None of us do! "First, I must confess that over the last few years I have become gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says, "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct a...

The Energizer Bunny in Hillary

Image
Just like the energizer bunny, Hillary keeps on ticking... Steven Stark had an interesting column in the Boston Phoenix today that highlights how Hillary is being held to a different standard than any candidate in modern political history specifically in regards to asking her to quit and referring to her as a 'spoiler'. "It is, in truth, an argument virtually without precedent in modern political history, at least at this stage of such a close race. And while it does have its origins in an effort to preserve party unity, it also has its roots in an odd and vitriolic crusade to purge the Clintons and hand the nomination to a candidate who has yet, after all, to win a single large state's primary (other than his own), let alone the nomination. The fact is that, until now, candidates have rarely, if ever, faced such a concerted movement (featuring prominent names, such as Bill Richardson, and a column in Slate titled "The Hillary Deathwatch"), urging them to drop...
