I grew up reading comic books wanting to be a superhero. Comics taught me that those who speak the truth are heroes, all the rest are liars.

Two Cities, Two Bids

Every four years the Republican & Democratic National Committee holds a convention to select the Democratic Party’s Presidential and Vice Presidential nominees. Delaegates from each of the states gather amid much fanfare.

Minneapolis has bid several times for these conventions, most recently in 1908 for the 2000 events and for the 2004 Republican convention but has remained barren since 1892 when it hosted the Republican National Convention.

Minneapolis and St. Paul announced their combined bids for both the Republican and Democratic 2008 National Conventions. It seems like we have pretty good odds this time to see at least one of the conventions staged in Minnesota.

Minneapolis and Denver have officially submitted their proposals to host the 2008 Democratic National Convention. Those states that may yet still submit, although the deadline is today, are Las Vegas, New Orleans and New York.

US Senator Smilin' Norm Coleman (R-MN) will be hand delievering the bid for the GOP convention in Minnesota.
